Programs for All
Chinese Lion Dancers: Year of the Dog — Saturday, Jan. 20, 12:15 – 1 p.m.
Celebrate the Lunar New Year at the San Francisco Public Library with a Chinese Lion Dance and Martial Arts Performance.

Asheba: Musical Storyteller — Saturday, Jan. 27, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Come to the library and enjoy the musical story-telling expertise of Bay Area resident Asheba. He specializes in Trinidadian-style family entertainment blending Calypso, Reggae, Neo-Folk music and more. For children and their families of all ages.

Adult Programs
Knitting Circle — Tuesday, Jan. 2 and Jan. 16, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Join our Knitting Circle in the Ocean View Branch Library for knitting, conversation and inspiration. Knitters of every skill level are invited. Beginners are especially welcome.

Movie Screening: Dunkirk — Thursday, Jan. 4, 4 – 6 p.m.
Please come to the Ocean View Branch Library to enjoy the latest Christopher Nolan movie with us. Surrounded by the German Army, 400,000 allied soldiers of Belgium, Britain and France are evacuated following a catastrophic defeat. Starring: Fionn Whitehead, Damien Bonnard, Aneurin Barnard, Tom Hardy and Tom Glynn-Carney. Rated PG-13. 105 mins. Refreshment provided.

Free Workshop: California Telephone Access Program — Thursday, Jan. 11, 5 – 6 p.m.
If you have difficulty hearing, seeing, moving, speaking, or remembering when answering and utilizing a standard telephone, learn about receiving free equipment through the California Telephone Access Program. A representative will show the specialized adaptive telephones and explain this free state-funded program to any eligible Californians, regardless of age or income. (In English and Cantonese)

Hoopla is Easy — Wednesday, Jan. 17, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Do you know how to utilize Hoopla digital to enjoy the latest soundtracks, read comics and watch movies?  Come to this workshop at the Ocean View Branch Library and you will learn more about this wonderful eService.

International Film: The Butterfly — Thursday, Jan. 18, 4 – 6 p.m.
The Ocean View Branch Library presents the monthly International Film event.  Our first movie will be in the language of French.  Directed and written by Phillipe Muyl, The Butterfly is an enjoyable comedy for all ages.

Julien an ornery butterfly collector, goes to find a rare butterfly specie.  His eight-year-old young and curious neighbor Elsa, whose mother is hardly home, goes to the French countryside with Julien.  The two companions learn about the past of another person during the journey and establish a bond. Starring: Claire Bounich, Michael Serrault and Nade Dieu. 80 mins. Refreshment provided.

Coloring Coffee Time — Every Thursday, 10 – 10:45 a.m.
The Ocean View Branch Library will be hosting a coloring program for adults every Thursday morning. Not therapeutic enough?  We will also provide coffee and tea for this soothing and fun program. Come join us!

Do you have a new computer or tablet, and can’t figure out how to use it? Want to learn how to download free movies or books from the library? Teen Programs
T(w)een Winter Read 2017 — Through Friday, Jan. 12
Teens and tweens are encouraged to pick up a reading log at a participating library location and fill out one log per 5 hours read. They will drop it off at the library location. Their reading log is their entry into the raffle and the more they read, the more chances they have to win.

Study Hall — Monday to Friday, 2:30 – 4 p.m.
Don’t have a place to study after school? Well, come on down to the Ocean View Branch to do Homework or just have a quiet place to study!

Children’s Programs
Little Creations Craft Time — Tuesday, Jan. 16, 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Come for Storytime and stay with your little one to make Toddler-friendly crafts and creations immediately after Storytime at Minnie & Lovie Recreation Center at 650 Capitol Ave. Hope to see you and your little one there! (Note: This event will be taking place at a location outside the San Francisco network of public libraries. Toddler Tales at Minnie & Lovie Ward Recreation Center — Every Tuesday, 10:45 – 11:15 a.m.

Baby Rhyme Time & Playtime — Every Thursday, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Rollicking rhymes, songs, and books for infants to 15 months and their caregivers.

Family Storytime & Playtime — Every Saturday, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Books, songs, rhymes, and fun for children of all ages unless noted.

Ocean View LEGO/Magnatiles Club — Every Saturday, 12 – 1 p.m.
Get creative building with LEGO. We provide all the pieces you’ll need to create vehicles, robots, castles, and more.
