After seven years of hosting monthly events downtown, a veterans group will attempt to reach a new crowd with an event on City College of San Francisco’s Ocean Campus in Ingleside.
At monthly meetings of the SF Veterans Town Hall, representatives from city, state and federal agencies and nonprofits will present information on healthcare, education, housing, employment and legal services for veterans.
The monthly events are an opportunity for organizations who often “work in silence” to share the projects they are working on, according to Eduardo Ramirez, the founder of OneVet OneVoice, one of the organizers of the event.
Ramirez, a City College student, hopes to attract some of CCSF’s 2,000 veteran students.
“I’m just giving back to my community,” Ramirez said about his activism.
Ramirez, who served in the Air Force for 22 years, isn’t sure whether he will continue the events into 2018. He’s looking for someone to pick up the project.
The event will occur between 9 and 12 a.m on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at City College’s Multi Use Building 140.
