November Events at Ocean View Library

Welcome to November! This month the Ocean View Branch Library is offering a variety of programs for adults, teens and children.

Please note that the library will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 11, Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24.

The Ocean View Brach Library is located at 345 Randolph St.

Adult Programs

Free Community Education Workshop: Problem Gambling – Thursday, November 2, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

In this problem gambling workshop, we will include information about the general understanding of problem gambling, the social and psychological impacts of problem gamblers, preventive strategies, and available resources to address this social issue.  To make this event informative and entertaining, we will also have a raffle section for participants.  (in Cantonese) This program is hosted by NICOS Chinese Health Coalition.

International Games Week: Tabletop Games – Saturday, November 4, 2 pm to 4 pm

Please join us for this International Games Week event, which takes place in libraries around the world and is supported by the American Library Association.  We have the games.  You bring the fun!  Open to all ages and abilities!  This is a Games & Gaming program from SFPL. Game on! Challenge yourself with our board games, video games & more.

Movie Screening: Wonder Woman – Wednesday, November 8, 12 pm to 2:30 pm

Ocean View Branch Library invites you to join us in watching the latest Wonder Woman movie.  Diana, an Amazon princess, leaves her mysterious island home and journeys to the outside world, which is being consumed by a massive war.  With the help of an American pilot, she fights the war, discovers her full powers and puts an end to the chaos.

Starring: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright and Danny Huston.  Rated PG-13.  141 min. Refreshment provided.

Invest Smarter with Value Line – Wednesday, November 15, 5pm to 6 pm

Whether you’re new to investing or a seasoned pro, use Value Line’s research on industries and individual companies to help you reach your portfolio goals.  Learn how to use this powerful investment resource in this introductory session.

Knitting Circle – Tuesday, November 21, 12 pm to 1 pm

Join our Knitting Circle in the Ocean View Branch Library for knitting, conversation and inspiration. Knitters of every skill level are invited.  Beginners are especially welcome.

Don’t have a place to study after school? Well, come on down to the Ocean View Branch to do Homework or just have a quiet place to study!

Children’s Programs

Crafty Saturday: Gratitude Cards – Saturday, November 18, 2 pm to 3:30 pm

What or who are you grateful for?  Design a card or piece of art for someone special or just for you.  We’ll provide all the supplies!

Monday Family Matinee: Moana – Monday, November 20, 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Come and join us for a Monday Family Matinee with the whole family to watch the movie “Moana.” In Ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches Moana’s island, she answers the Ocean’s call to seek out the Demigod to set things right. Popcorn and snacks will be provided.

Ocean View LEGO/Magnatiles Club – Every Saturday, 12 pm to 1 pm

Get creative building with LEGO. We provide all the pieces you’ll need to create vehicles, robots, castles, and more.

Toddler Tales at Minnie & Lovie Ward Recreation Center – Every Tuesday, 10:45 am to 11:15 am

Books, rhymes, music, movement, and more for toddlers, 16 months through age 2 and their caregivers. (Note: This event will be taking place at a location outside the San Francisco network of public libraries. For questions concerning the event, please contact the hosting library: Ocean View.)

Baby Rhyme Time & Playtime – Every Thursday, 11 am to 12 pm

Rollicking rhymes, songs, and books for infants to 15 months and their caregivers.

Family Storytime & Playtime Every Saturday, 11 am to 12 pm

Books, songs, rhymes, and fun for children of all ages unless noted.
