Fall Membership Drive

Let’s Save San Francisco-style Community Journalism

For the month of November, we are seeking memberships so we can hire a part-time reporter

Like cable cars and fog, neighborhood newspapers are part of San Francisco’s rich character. No other American city has as many as The City.

But our dozen neighborhood newspapers are in trouble.

This year, Haight-Ashbury neighborhood newspaper HATCH Beat and the award-winning Tenderloin neighborhood newspaper Central City Extra called it quits. It’s clear that neighborhood newspapers need help. And we think membership drives may save San Francisco-style community journalism.

Throughout November we will be campaigning to hire a part-time reporter to publish stories online daily. To get it done, we need you to join our Patreon (www.patreon.com/ielight).

Since 2008, The Light has taken a community-first ethos to neighborhood news. We strive to report it all, from crime and small business to transportation and our schools. Every single day there are happenings in our neighborhood that need to be covered by independent journalists for the public good and with your membership we will do just that.

We’ve got a lot coming this month. Stay tuned and please spread the word.

Thank you.
