Dear SFPL Excelsior Branch patrons,

The harvest month is upon us and we are celebrating with a cornucopia of programs for all ages!

Come celebrate VIVA Latino Hispanic Heritage Month with our Day of the Dead Altar Workshop on Thursday, Nov. 2 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. It will be a hands-on event to help create a Dia de los Muertos altar with colorful and overflowing offerings. All ages are encouraged and welcome to participate.

Some special events we have for T(w)eens are:

SAT Workshop Series on Wednesdays 4:30 – 7:00 p.m., Nov. 1, 8, 15, and 29, where students will learn test strategy to help them score high even when they don’t know the answer, how to tackle the toughest rick questions with aplomb, and how to put it all in context with their college goals.

Girls who Code on Tuesdays throughout the Fall 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., where girls learn to code in an open and accepting environment. Projects include learning how to code animations, games, and websites. Open to 6th-12th grade girls.

Great Teen Book Swap on Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., Free book! Just swap us a review. Here’s how it works: the teen librarian will bring out several books (new titles, old titles, and titles that have not been published yet) and allow teens the chance to browse through them for one that they’d like to keep. Teens will, in turn, swap us a review of the book by the next swap. For ages 12-18.

All T(w)een events require sign-up, please email or call.

Adults can enjoy in the following programs:

MED Project Prescription Drug Take-back on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. First Thursday Movies @ Excelsior on Thursday, Nov. 2 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., where we will show Vertigo (1958 · 2hr 8min). Computer Help for Adults/Seniors on Saturday, Nov. 4 and 18 from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m., please drop-in with any questions about tablets, iPhones, iPads, smart phones and so on! T-Shirt Scrap Wreaths on Thursday 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Nov. 16, get crafty and thrifty this holiday season.
